PRIME Downhole manufactures conventional TorkStar (TS) Ratchet Type (RT) breakout machines and TorkStar (TS) Continuous Rotating (CR) bucking units to accurately and efficiently assemble and disassemble threaded connections on various downhole tool or work strings. 

Both series are customizable (with options for skid length, max tool diameters, maximum torque capacity, extension beam lengths; rolling steady rest quantity, push pull cylinder capability, etc.) and compatible with our high torque pipe spinners to assist in the timely make-up and breakout of threaded connections.

The units offer a specific number of self-centering clamp cylinders to securely hold and apply the desired torque. The TS-RT & TS-CR series accurately and efficiently torque threaded connections and are compatible with most of the industry computerized torque logging systems. They may be operated at pressures up to 3000 psi and feature a hydraulic pressure unit housed in the operator control console.

PRIME Downhole offers Calibration services for all major torque logging systems with our two 100,000-foot pound transducers. Manufactured by Himmelstein and Norbar, these transducers are calibrated annually to NIST standards. Calibrations verify the accuracy of your logging equipment to your machine as a matched set.

For those machines without electronic logging equipment, we can verify the actual torque by the pressure gauges in 200 psi increments, providing the customer with a verified table of torque values for that machine.

PRIME Downhole’s inventory continues to evolve and meet our customer demands, and minimize operational downtime. We stock parts and supplies such as dies, jaws and more, and our experienced team can provide assistance with any hard-to-find parts or manufacture replacements. 

We are your single source for all bucking and breakout unit requirements and we also premanufacture and stock customer-ordered downhole parts like bearings and wear components, to accommodate just-in-time deliveries.

With all hydraulically operated systems, the reliability and durability of hydraulic cylinders, motors and hose is key to efficiency and minimizing work stoppages. 

To ensure reliability and durability, the PRIME Downhole Team is trained in the use and application of these products and our high-quality hydraulic cylinders are manufactured from specified materials and machined to the precise tolerances of our engineered drawings. 

At each step in the manufacturing process, components are inspected to minimize assembly issues. After assembly, each cylinder goes through a multi-point check to verify function, jaw and die alignment and seal pressure integrity tests.

Clients often require a component or assembly to meet a specialized need and require a service that can take an idea and turn it into a usable component or assembly. 

Clients may also experience a catastrophic work stoppage and require a replacement part that is not readily available. 

PRIME Downhole’s custom fabrication services can take a concept and turn it into reality or take an existing component that is not serviceable, reverse engineer it and fabricate a new component within days.

Custom manufacturing process:

Collaboration is the key to bring projects from concept to completion.

Our team will meet with you to develop a thorough understanding of the project and develop a scope of work complete with deliverables.

In-house engineers then design and engineer the product to meet your needs, and complete machine drawings for fabrication.

Upon design approval, our fabrication team then sources the materials and begins the process to fabricate the component or the complete assembly. Throughout the process, the client receives updates and is always welcome to inspect the work in progress.

Material certificates and dimensional inspections are gathered to ensure complete traceability of the products.

After completion of the workpieces, our experienced technicians and fitters assemble the components to ensure fit. The assembly is tested and commissioned on-site. PRIME welcomes clients to inspect the products we fabricate for fit, form and function prior to leaving our facility.
